About the Artist
Let
me tell you a little about myself...
I
was born and raised in Illinois and came to Austin in 1982. I've
lived here long enough now to get the chills when the temp drops
below 70 degrees.
These
days, I live in Beyersville, Tx which consists of a few
houses, a beer joint and an equipment shop.
I'm a wife, mom and grandma of three precious little ones, the newest was
just born May 10, 2000. A girl this time. WOW! Someone to play
dolls with! I'm almost a newlywed, having been remarried June 1999. He's the
best hubby in the world and is very supportive. I have three children, the
last of which just moved out! boo hoo! She is the one who graduated from Beauty
College and recently married in for Aug. 2003. No pets but my hubby
is a rancher, farmer, in addition to being a Network Administrator with
the Texas Legislative Council, so you could probably count the farm critters as
pets. They don't let us pet them but they can be highly entertaining.
This city girl never knew cows could be so playful. :)
My husband's family also owns and operates a Cotton Gin so
cotton is very much a part of our life. For several months a year, we
breath, eat and sleep cotton 7 days a week, every week until the last bale
of cotton is ginned. I can't spend much time there as all the cotton dust
kills my allergies, but I help out by running errands or staying out of
the way. This still leaves
me plenty of time to work on dolls, which is my real passion!

Background
I
was a crochet and needlecraft designer/writer for craft publications and
manufacturers for 10 years under the name Pamela Noel. I've designed for
"Crochet Fantasy", "Crochet Home", "Crochet
World" and various other publications. I've written three crochet
pamphlets for Leisure Arts, House of White Birches and Design
Originals. Crochet is my strongest skill and something I've always
loved to do.
Here
is a sample of my previous work as a needlecraft designer:

In
1976, I sliced several tendons in my left hand. It took me several years
to learn how to crochet again (the left hand is very important for
maintaining proper tension) I've since remarried and work under my new
name: Pamela Bachmayer.
I
rediscovered my love of Barbie shortly
after my remarriage and when I found out about OOAK's, I
was in heaven! WOW! I
could combine my love of Barbie and being creative at the same time! Yeah!
My favorite designs incorporate crochet into them, with tiny sweaters,
bodices, jackets. I'm basically working in miniature from what I used to
do as a crochet designer. I
just don't have to write those instructions anymore!
(Update:
Sept 2003:
I laugh when I read this last paragraph! LOL! Yep, One of my plans for
2004 is to add fashion doll clothing in my own unique style to the list of
offerings here at PBDesigns, as well as more accessories and doll
supplies. Why, you ask? Well, as I get older, I find there are days I just
don't see well enough or my hands get too shaky to do the intricate work
needed for OOAKS. I still plan to do them, but have come to the conclusion
that I just can't sit around and waste those days when I can't work on OOAKS.
Since patterns are an area I have experience with, I decided that as long
as I was doing things I enjoyed, I could live with writing the instructions! I
have been planning this for awhile, but don't expect these goodies to be
available till 2004! I might even get around to updating that
photo of me too but I really like how THIN I look! LOL! We'll see how the
year goes! I may have too much gray hair by years end!)
I'm
still exploring this craft, there is always something new to
learn, to experiment with...so many genre's I haven't explored yet! I am having a blast! I
hope
you enjoy my designs as much as I've enjoyed making them!
